About

‘Open Inquiry’ is a philosophy blog with a new posting on most even-numbered days, applying the analysis of the philosophy of freedom to current affairs, ideological politics, economics, political psychology, ethics, morality, foreign affairs and occasionally, on philosophy. The philosophy of freedom has five grounds: human rationality (Nobel laureate Amartya Sen at Harvard); human morality (Joseph Raz at Oxford); human history (Lord Acton); objectivity (Tibor Machan at Chapman) and human nature. Duoism addresses human nature.

This Duoism blog intends to expose the common myths and superstitions, the catabolic ideo/theological fears and hatreds in the two major American political parties with their mutual, irrepressible compulsion to control or dominate the lives of other human beings, and to offer instead the moderate/centrist and tripartisan politics of a ‘freedomist’, an open-minded, either religious or secular independent-thinker self-defined as “a freedom-loving, prudent, pragmatic pluralist.” The ‘freedomist’ could also be described as ‘lite-Libertarian,’ or ‘conservative Democrat,’ or ‘liberal Republican,’ or otherwise as someone who is simultaneously fiscally conservative and socially  moderate.
